The fundamentals of Svea’s interior were defined by the celebrated Dutch designer Pieter Beeldsnijder, based on the initial layouts from Hoek Design.
With walnut being the owner’s preferred material, Pieter created a semi-classic interior based primarily on raised and fielded open grain matt-varnished walnut and off-white raised panels. When Pieter sadly passed away halfway through the project, deVosdeVries design was asked to complete the interior styling. Both partners had worked for and with Pieter for more than 20 years – in fact, they started their careers at his design office after finishing their naval architecture studies in the mid-1990s, so it was a privilege to be able to work on one of his last projects.
Working closely with the owner, we developed custom interior lighting and switch materials, and finalised all interior hardware, bathroom appliances and soft furnishings. Support to the yard and interior builder was provided throughout build process.
